This week, Chelsea win on two fronts – they strangle Tottenham into submission to win the Carling Cup, and sit back as the gap at the top opens up after Liverpool summon up the energy to down Man City, 48 hours after their energy sapping loss in Turkey. Van Gaal finally decides to put a round peg in a round hole as round-headed Rooney inspires a Man Utd win, and with Arsenal winning, the top half of the table starts getting familiar.
